After graduating high school in 2019, I had my sights set on going to college to pursue a Bachelor's degree. I began my first two years at Lake-Sumter State College as part of the first cohort of students in its Honors Program. It was here I met many amazing and motivated students working towards becoming the best versions of themselves. Through our honors courses, outside activities, and more, we strived to serve as an example for the program and garner attention so more students could experience its benefits. We worked diligently to craft our capstone projects by the end of our two years and present them to the college. With the work of director of the program, Amber Karlins, and many instructors and faculty, the Honors Program was able to provide myself and others the opportunities to succeed.
Along with the Honors Program at Lake-Sumter, I also became an officer in the Student Government Association, serving as Co-President in my second year there. As well as this, I had the opportunity to give a TEDx Talk as part of TEDxLSSC, which you can see at the section in the "My Stories" tab. My efforts at Lake-Sumter State College earned me the Order of the Lakehawk award, the highest award attainable by a student at the college.
